Praat Demo Applications

Praat enables the creation of stand alone applications using the Praat Demo Window. It is even possible to re-compile praat to turn a script into a stand alone program. Instructions on how to (cross-) compile praat for MS Windows can be found on this page.

A set of GPLed "framework library" scripts has been constructed to simplify the design of such scripts and stand alone applications. Several example applications have been added. The scripts can be loaded into Praat and run like any other script. Note that the Praat code might need some patching to get the stand alone scripts working correctly on MS Windows. Example patch files to do this can be found in the projects below, one example is here.

Included are automatically generated compressed Mac (.app), Linux x86-32/64, and Windows versions for Windows XP (*XP.exe) and later versions (*.exe). These are NOT build regularly and might be out of date (see warning below).
Also included are Nightly builds of stand alone Praat applications for Linux x86-64 (see warning below).

PraatDemoApp_module
Download using Git:
git clone git://uvafon.hum.uva.nl/PraatDemoApp_module
A drop-in system for creating binary Praat Demo applications which display only the Praat Demo window without the familiar Praat Object and Picture windows.
Set up compiling Praat on your system, replace the example PraatDemoApp.praat script with your own demo-window script and type make. That is all.
