My research interest is in the evolution of speech. More precisely, I use
computer models to investigate the evolution of speech – that is, the
physical signal used to convey language. I am interested in both cultural
evolution of languages and biological evolution of adaptations for language. At
the moment I spend most of my time investigating the role of air sacs in the
evolution of the vocal tract.
